Training programme for users and technicians of sterilization equipment
Compilation of training materials, presentation of courses, assisting health facilities in repairs of equipment and advice on sterilization practices. The first set of courses is planned for January 2001 in Moshi, Tanzania 2001.

Physical Asset Management program
Involvement as associated consultant/software developer. Adapting the computerized Planning and Management System of Assets (PLAMAHS) to the requirements for Malawi. System development for the planning and management of medical equipment. Development of maintenance component to be integrated into the software system. Back stopping to long term TA for the development of equipment standards by health-care level and equipment policy development.

Research on improved design of appropriate sterilizer for the health services of low income countries
The first phase of 6 and 12 weeks implied a study on improvement of a vacuum system and control system of a standard type autoclave basic autoclave. The research is to result in a prototype sterilizer, ready for field testing and in a later stage a sterilizer suitable for larger scale production.

Formulation of outline for concept for sterile supply for health services for low-income countries.
The research period of 5 months resulted in an improved process, recommended for use in basic, manually operated sterilizers as commonly used for all types of loads in health facilities.
